Review: I’ve managed to fall in love with all of the characters in this small town that A.L. Jackson has created. I’d read her before but I’ve only just met these characters when I picked up Follow Me Back. Now, this is a series but each story can be read as a standalone, as each character has their own story to tell.

Everyone has a “thing” especially when it comes to family. We all have that thing that will trigger an argument, a smile, some tears…something when it comes to family, close family. And the disappearance of his sister was something that Ollie didn’t see coming, can’t seem to get over, and blames himself for. I couldn’t help but feel so bad for him the entire time I was reading. His pain was palpable. I understood his need to “find” his sister, the case had gone cold and his mom blamed him for not looking out for his little sister. He has issues and deservingly so. The only thing I hated was how he kept denying himself love because he felt he didn’t deserve it but at the same time one of the things I LOVED was how his loyalty to his sister came at the expense of his own happiness. Everyone deserves to be a little selfish at times but his one moment of selfishness cost him so much and according to him he can’t let it happen again. But the angsty romance lover in me wants it to happen SO BAD.

Nikki is great too! I loved both of these characters. She is fun-loving, but behind that facade, you can see the hurt she harbors for what she believes is unrequited love. Nikki, Ollie, and Sydney were all best friends until Syd disappeared and for some reason, Ollie doesn’t think her loss is as big as his. The best thing about this story, IMO, is the stuff happening in the background. Nikki helps out at a center for abuse and the girl that she helps as well as her grandma falling ill brings out things that I didn’t see coming. I mean boy did I NOT see it coming. It started to make sense the further I got along in the book, and when the final piece clicked in place, talk about BAM. I was devastated and relieved all in the span of a chapter. In true romance form we get out HEA but man the ride there was a bumpy one. I really enjoyed this book. Now, I have to go back and read book 1 because I have fallen in complete love with this series. 4.5 stars for this A.L. Jackson masterpiece.
